KURJEY TSHECHU – Summary

Bumthang Kurjey Tshechu Festival is celebrated only for one day.  People of Jakar and Kurjey villages attend the Tshechu to pay an obeisance to Guru Rinpoche who brought Buddhism to Bhutan. This festival occurs at the patio of the Kurjey Monastery. Tshechu are constantly led or consummation on the tenth Day of a Bhutanese Calendar month as the term Tshechu implies the tenth, which is broadly celebrated as the Birth Anniversary of Guru Rimpoche, the second Buddha.
